Thanks again for your thoughtful responses to last week’s question: “What are the best ways to help Americans find common ground?” The comments and recommendations you offered can be loosely categorized in three ways:

1. Things people can do on their own to turn down the political heat.

2. Organizational and institutional reforms that could encourage more cooperation and mutual understanding between different groups.

3. New political structures and parties to better represent the diversity of ideological viewpoints and beliefs in America.
