This was excellent analysis. Dems will probably win both races, even though there is not a sliver of daylight between AOC's, Spanberger's and Sherrill's voting records and policies. Reps are lousy at messaging and Dems are experts at convincing voters their candidates are much more moderate, than they are in actuality. During Biden's reign, neither Spanberger or Sherrill ever called for Dems to close the border, or stop flushing trillions on Green fantasies, Bill Gates now admits are not real.

Neither did either ever support the rational middle ground of trans athletes competing in their own categories, while utilizing school facilities denoted only for them. They could have easily championed, while adults should live as they please, children should not share school showers or athletic fields with kids with different genitalia, but they refuse.

Spanberger, who claims to have 3 daughters in public school, really defies all logic. After multiple instances of rapes in Virginia public schools by intact transgender students and transgender adults, exposing themselves, in formerly exclusively female school spaces, she refuses to stand up for females. Forgive my bluntness, but what kind of Mother puts her political ambitions over the safety of her own daughters?

Sherrill hit DC and morphed into Warren Buffet, pocketing $7 million dollars in stock trades and then snagged 2 seats at the Naval Academy for her 2 daughters, in the same year. Congressional insider trading is legal, but that does not mean it should be rewarded with a stay in the Governor's mansion. The nepotism is nauseating and most telling. Sherrill fully expects her surfs to simply accept the obvious nepotism and graft, even in an election year.

Dems may win the battle, to lose the war. Winning these elections is likely to convince Dems , there is no need to reexamine policies. That is probably not helpful, in the long run.

Bingo. As a conservative Christian, I always feel like Obi-Wan facing his former student: "You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I should become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

* If the Democrats lose elections, their ideas are defeated.

* If the Democrats win elections, then they get to implement their policies, which are not based on a truthful vision of human nature, and will be judged as a failure by history for centuries.

It's the French Revolution all the way the down for the left. Good intentions, bad grasp of human nature.

Comparing with Ruiy's Free Press piece will these elections contribute to or further erode the Democrat's brand country wide?

That will depend on how the Democrats govern if elected.

Assuming that Spanberger wins (most likely scenario), if she governs as the moderate, common sense “mom” she campaigned as it will improve the Democrats image. If she goes along with every radical leftist idea as she’s done as long as she’s been in the House, then it will further erode the Democrats brand. Especially when those policies inflict harm an everyone outside of the top 5% as they inevitably do.

Please provide some examples of these “Radical Leftist” ideas that Spanberger will support?

I don't follow polls, but I don't see how either Republican candidate has a shot. 2021 had a completely different environment. Trump had been banished to the shadow realm* and the authoritarianism of Covid policies loomed as the major issue. Also gender ideology was becoming a major issue as well, because many people transitioned during the lockdowns, and suddenly it was clear that this hyper-niche issue was going mainstream. So 2021 was a "return to normal" off-year election in which the Democrats were punished for overreach.

I think 2025 will be all about the Democratic advantage in low-turnout elections.

* Trump would have stayed in the shadow realm, but the Democrats summoned him with their highly illegal lawfare. Which was entirely predictable. It does make you suspect that they are crying crocodile tears when they complain about Trump being a "king" and a "dictator." They assumed, probably correctly, that he was a weak candidate.

Polymarket gives overwhelming odds the Democrats will win in both instances. Knowing the demographics of the parties I'd not want to bet on the Republicans, a low turnout off year election in blue states would be quite a reach, especially for the party with sporadic voters.
